Ice Cube thinks both US presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden, are “evil”.
In November, US citizens will head to the polls to vote for their next president, with the two major contenders being current president and Republican nominee Donald Trump, and Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
And although celebrities have been coming out in support of their chosen candidate to encourage people to vote, rapper Ice Cube has insisted he isn’t backing either nominee, because he thinks they’ve both been “evil to Black people”.
He said: “Do I believe Donald Trump and do I believe these politicians and what they’re gonna do? Hell no. To me, they’re the same people, two sides of the same coin. One of them is just a little more polished than the other. But, they’re both white men from the 50’s. Both of them have in some ways been evil to Black people. We can’t be looking for a lesser evil, they're all evil.”
Over the summer, the 51-year-old star - whose real name is O'Shea Jackson - released the Contract With Black America, a plan that aims to combat racial economic inequality and racism.
And whilst he would love for the Democrats to adopt his plan, he hasn’t ruled out talking to Republicans about the topic.
He added: “When I put this out I was hoping the Democrats would be all over me. I’ve been a staunch Democrat my whole life. But in doing the Contract With Black America what I learned is by just locking into one party, and if that party doesn’t come through, then nothing’s going to come through.”
Ice Cube insisted there’s “nothing wrong with talking to power” no matter who’s in charge, and said he will “talk to every damn president” until his plan goes through.
Speaking to V-103’s ‘The Morning Culture’, he said: “Ain’t nothing wrong with talking to power.
“Every person I know trying to get something done has talked to power so that’s nothing, that’s a part of it. I expect to talk to every damn president until we get this contract done. I’m not playing the game of ‘I’m on this team and they’re on that team.’ I don’t think we can afford to do that. We can’t afford to be on nobody’s team. We got to be on the Black team and whoever is doing the most that’s how we roll.”
