Hilaria Baldwin thinks she "could have better explained" her heritage.
The 37-year-old author has returned to social media for the first time, after taking a break amid questions about her birth country and cultural background and admits she "should have been more clear" about her past and where she comes from.
She wrote on Instagram: "I’ve spent the last month listening, reflecting, and asking myself how I can learn and grow. My parents raised my brother and me with two cultures, American and Spanish, and I feel a true sense of belonging to both. The way I’ve spoken about myself and my deep connection to two cultures could have been better explained - I should have been more clear and I’m sorry. I’m proud of the way I was raised, and we’re raising our children to share the same love and respect for both. Being vulnerable and pushing ourselves to learn and grow is what we’ve built our community on, and I hope to get back to the supportive and kind environment we’ve built together."
Hilaria - who has Eduardo, three months, Romeo, two, Leonardo, four, Rafael, five and Carmen, seven, with her husband Alec Baldwin - previously left social media amid the scandal.
She wrote at the time: "I’ve said my piece. I’m so tired. I’m going to go back to my family, because I’ve been not a very good mommy spending a lot of time focusing on this. I just want to be left alone. I love you and I’m going to sign off for a long time."
