The 42-year-old model, who raises kids Leni, 11, Henry, 10, Johan, eight, and Lou, six, with the British singer, insists she wasn't criticising his level of involvement when she recently claimed in an interview that she is both a "mom and a dad" to their children.
Asked about the controversial comments she made to the November issue of Redbook magazine, the 'America's Got Talent' judge said: "In the article, I say that, as a single parent, 'I'm a mom and a dad at the same time.' And that is the case when I'm alone with our kids ... and I assume the same rings true when they are with their dad.
"As a single parent, you have so many roles - you are wearing all the hats. The mom hat, the dad hat, the chef hat, the teacher hat, the disciplinarian hat, the clown hat and the work hat. You have your hands full, but you just try your best because it's all about raising happy and healthy kids. That's all we both want."
Heidi came under fire on social media after she stated being a single parent is not "drastically" different to when she was married to Seal because "he travelled a lot."
But the blonde beauty says there is no bad blood between her and the 52-year-old star, who is now dating Erika Packer.
She told PEOPLE.com: "I am very happy for Seal. I have met Erika a bunch of times at my children's birthday parties and she is lovely."
