Harrison Ford insists he wouldn't have crashed his plane in March if it was the Millennium Falcon.

The 73-year-old actor believes he would've had no problems landing the 'Star Wars' spacecraft, which is commanded by his character Han Solo in the sci-fi franchise, on a golf course in Santa Monica, California.

Harrison was left with a head injury and broken right leg as a result of the incident but has enjoyed being back in the Falcon while filming upcoming movie 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.

He said: "Now I crash planes, I don't fly them. I've been flying for 20 years and it was a very rare thing to happen. It was a mechanical issue and no fault of the maintenance or anyone else.

"The Millennium Falcon never breaks and you can put it down anywhere. It was the one that I put on a golf course that disappointed me. The Millennium Falcon is infallible."

But the incident didn't put Harrison off as he jumped straight back into the plane even when his cast was still on.

He said: "I started flying as soon as I could get back in my cockpit. I had a cast on my right leg, but my toes were hanging out so I could put my toes over the pedals and fly. I've been flying ever since."

While the Hollywood star admits he might be "stupid" for flying again after his near-death experience, he is grateful for his wife Calista Flockhart's support.

He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "My wife still supports me because she knows how much it means to me. Maybe I am stupid, but I haven't changed anything. I still love flying."
