Gwyneth Paltrow is giving her lifestyle brand a new lift, by enlisting the help of Martha Stewart Living’s former CEO.

The actress has hailed new CEO Lisa Gersh as a "visionary leader" to take her company ahead in the future.

With plenty of celebrity competition, like Blake Lively’s Preserve, Goop needed a new lease of life.

Gwyneth said: "She's the perfect person to build on the momentum we have already created at Goop, and to diversify our opportunities to bring Goop's positive energy directly to consumers in what they read, what they try, what they buy and how they live."

Lisa - who was CEO and president of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for less than a year until February 2013 - replaces Seb Bishop in the role after he suddenly quit in April, soon after Gwyneth and her husband Chris Martin announced their separation through the Goop newsletter.

And the businesswoman is thrilled to be working alongside the 42-year-old actress.

She said: "As a fan since its launch, I've admired the inimitable voice and style Gwyneth has infused into Goop, and the business she's built.

"It's rare to work with such an inspired founder and a digitally native company, a brand that thinks digitally from an organic point-of-view and successfully fuses content and revenue-generating retail."

And Lisa's appointment comes just a month after her former boss criticised Gwyneth for her lifestyle company.

Martha said: "She just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star.

"If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart."
