Gwen Stefani doesn't know why Blake Shelton took so long to propose.
The 'Hollaback Girl' singer was shocked when her husband-to-be got down on one knee last year but she admits in the lead up to it, she wondered if it would happen as he waited five years before proposing.
Opening up about the proposal, she said: "Wasn't expecting it at the moment that it happened, at all. Didn't have any idea, nobody knew. I think he had told my dad on my birthday about two weeks earlier, and I gotta tell you, I was sorta like, 'What's happening with us?' It was kind of in my mind like, We've been together a long time now. What's going on? I was in that place in my head."
And Gwen even more wishes Blake - who she met on 'The Voice' - had proposed to her sooner as with the coronavirus pandemic, she is unable to plan the wedding how she would want to.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she added: "We have no plans because of the pandemic. It's like, Blake, why couldn't you have done it before! Now we can't have a wedding with the pandemic. It's like sitting around going, OK, drag it out more!"
Blake previously admitted he was keen for Gwen's sons to be part of his proposal to their mother.
He recently said: "The only thing I had planned was that I knew I wanted to do it in Oklahoma while all her kids were there [and our siblings]. I didn't want to take her away or do something private away from the kids. I felt like it was important for the kids to be a part of that moment, so that's what I did."
He also sought their permission to pop the question, as well as Gwen's dad Dennis.
