Goldie Hawn thinks Justin Bieber's downward spiral is "heart-breaking."

The 68-year-old actress, whose daughter Kate Hudson, 34, has also carved out a career in Hollywood, believes fame is very challenging for young celebrities and can be very stressful.

When asked about the 19-year-old star, who was arrested and charged with drink driving, resisting arrest and drag racing in Miami, Florida in the early hours of Thursday morning (01.23.14), the 'The First Wives Club' star told CNN at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland that his situation was "heart-breaking" and admitted she could relate to the 'Baby' hitmaker.

She said: "It actually breaks my heart because I know what's going on. Now they're self-medicating and this is the most dangerous thing for them.

"Talent, sweetness, ability to manage -- what good they could be doing, how happy they could be feeling. And as a mother -- and a grandmother now -- all I want to do is hold them."

Goldie sought help early in her career even though she was never attracted to drugs.

She said: "It was very stressful. I was away from home. It happened overnight for me and I really became anxious around it.

"I sought help because I wanted to find out why I wasn't as happy as I should have been, or excited, but I didn't understand why people were asking me for my autograph."
