Gillian Anderson has opened up about her lesbian love affair, a year after her lover died of a brain tumour.
And Anderson admits that she wanted to honour her and their time together, because she brought 'meaning' to her life.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday's Even magazine, the actress said: "She had died of a brain tumour a year earlier and I had never really spoken about her.
"She was a beautiful person who was very meaningful in my life and I wanted to honour her instead of hiding my experience.
"There was a point years after we split when she phoned to tell me to say she had been offered a large amount of money to sell a photograph of us together and had chosen not to do it."
Anderson embarked on this relationship while she was in high school, and spoke about that time in her life for the first time two years ago.
Anderson married first husband Clyde Klotz back in 1994 - with whom she had her first child Piper. However, the couple divorced in 1997.
She wed for a second time in 2004, after meeting documentary filmmaking Julian Ozanne. The marriage only lasted two years, and the couple separated in 2006.
Anderson has two more children with partner Mark Griffiths - Oscar in 2006 and Felix in 2008 - but the couple split two years ago.
Anderson is set to return to the small screen with the second series of The Fall later this autumn.
