George Lucas and Mellody Hobson
George Lucas has married his girlfriend of seven years.
The 'Star Wars' film-maker wed Mellody Hobson over the weekend and the star-studded event reportedly took place at the Peninsula Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
Among those on the guest list were fellow movie director Ron Howard and A-list actor Samuel L. Jackson.
Shortly after the wedding Samuel Tweeted: "Let's give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride Melody on this their wedding day!! Congrats!!!!!! (sic)"
Ron Howard also took to social media to congratulate the newlyweds.
He tweeted on Sunday (23.06.2013): "George Lucas Melody Hobson wedding was joy to behold Bill Moyers service was beautiful, nothing short of profound. Congrats Mr & Mrs Lucas (sic)."
George and businesswoman Melody, 44, met in 2006 and became engaged in January this year.
Soon after, Mellody, who is president of Ariel Investments, revealed that former basket ball star and New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley was going to give her away.
'Hook' director George, 69, was previously married to editor Marcia Lou Griffin, who won an Oscar for her work on the original 'Star Wars' films.
Lucas also has three adopted children, all of whom have appeared in his three 'Star Wars' films made in the last decade.
