George Clooney has won over his soon-to-be in-laws.
The 'Monuments Men' star, who got engaged to lawyer Amal Alamuddin last month, has made a good impression on her father Ramzi, who was skeptical when he first learned of their relationship because of his Hollywood status.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "[The family were] scared ... that Amal's accomplishments and education would be neglected in the press - and even by George.
George Clooney wins over his soon-to-be in-laws, who were initially skeptical of his intentions.
"The family is extremely educated and takes pride in what they've accomplished in life, both in Lebanon and around the world."
The source claims Amal's parents "devoted their lives" to providing the best education possible for their daughter and they were worried that all that could be eclipsed by George's fame.
But now Ramzi has got to know the actor he approves of the 53-year-old star "wholeheartedly" and is said to be a fan.
The source said: "He clearly has the brains to go with his beauty, and he's working hard to prove to them that he deserves a place in their respected family."
Although Ramzi is "not very fond" of the media attention surrounding their engagement, he is happy Amal's accomplishments have been recognised.
The source added: "Her father couldn't be prouder of her and is beyond thrilled that the world now knows her name and what she has done. He jokes that George will become known as Mr. Alamuddin instead of Amal being known as Mrs. Clooney!
"[Amal is] not a gold digger. She has her own money and things going on, and George has told people that's why he knows he can trust her and wants to be with her.
"She isn't going to be arranging paparazzi photos like some of his past girlfriends have done."
Meanwhile, George's close friend Julia Roberts has described the engagement as "sublime".
The 46-year-old actress gushed about his new fiancee during an interview on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'.
She said: "I think it is sublime. [Amal] is beautiful and smart and he is happy and that's what matters to me."
