Gary Barlow has silenced rumours the 'Let It Shine' winners will be backing singers in the 'The Band' musical.
The 46-year-old singer has taken to social media to stop allegations the talent show's champions Five To Five, which is comprised of AJ Bentley, Curtis T Johns, Nick Carsberg, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Solomon, and will portray Take That in an upcoming musical, won't have lead roles in the production.
In reply to a twitter user who asked whether it was true the group would be sidelined in the show, the 'Back for Good' hitmaker tweeted: "Utter rubbish (sic)."
The news comes after the programme was criticised for being misleading.
And the BBC - who broadcasted the series earlier this year - have defended themselves against the accusations as they have stated the show was "never" intended to cast actors in the musical, but to find performers to be "front and centre" in the big show.
Speaking to the Metro Online, a spokesperson from the broadcasting company said: "With 'Let It Shine' we always said we were casting for a band to appear in a musical based on the music of Take That and they had to be able to sing and dance - like a boyband.
"The winners will sing and dance to 14 Take That numbers in Gary's musical. We never said we were casting actors. But they will be front and centre of the musical."
