Gary Barlow took to Twitter yesterday (02.08.14) to issue an apology over his alleged investment in a tax avoidance scheme in 2012.

Barlow - who was accused of hiding millions from HM Revenue and Customs in a scheme run by Icebreaker management in a bid to avoid paying tax earlier this year - has taken to his Twitter account to say sorry to anyone "offended" by the claims.

Gary, 43, and his bandmates Howard Donald and Mark Owen, are believed to have invested at least £26 million in the company by 2012, although the 'Let Me Go' singer has denied any knowledge of any wrongdoing.

He wrote on the social media site: "I want to apologise to anyone who was offended by the tax stories earlier this year."

He added shortly after: "With a new team of accountants we are working to settle things with all parties involved ASAP."

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, lawyers for the men said they have been paying "significant tax" and that the 'Greatest Day' hitmakers were "bamboozled" by being tricked into the scheme that was not a legitimate enterprise.

Following his apology, Gary also revealed the band are set to release a new album.

He wrote: "We have been working since the new year on a new Take That studio album.

"We are extremely excited about it ! It has been 4 long years since the last one

"It's so nice to be back in the band ! (sic)"
