Ferne McCann plans to leave out hand sanitiser for Santa.
The 30-year-old star and her daughter Sunday, three, will be leaving a traditional tipple and snack out for Father Christmas on 24 December, but are also planning to make sure he takes necessary precautions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
She said: “Having Sunday, I can just relive all of those wonderful traditions.
“We’ll be leaving out a mince pie with a glass of whiskey, or brandy, or milk – whatever Father Christmas drinks these days – and carrots for the reindeer.
“When Boris [Johnson] brought in the Rule of Six, the first thing I Tweeted was, ‘What’s going to happen to Christmas?’ Someone relied, writing, ‘Santa will just need his sanitiser and mask.’
“It really made me chuckle! So I might get Sunday to leave him out some anti-bac at the bottom of the chimney this year.”
The former ‘Only Way is Essex’ star is particularly excited about this Christmas because Sunday – whose father is her former boyfriend Arthur Collins - is so much more aware of what is happening.
She told Closer magazine: “Sunday points at chimneys and says, ‘Father Christmas is going to come down there’.
“For gifts, she’s weirdly obsessed with slime at the moment – but she also wants a bike. I can’t wait for Christmas with her.”
Ferne’s favourite thing about Christmas is the food.
She said: “Our Christmas is all about food, family and fun.
“For me, my festive traditions are every much centred on eating.
“I’m a real foodie and I love to cook too.
“I always feel so full after my Christmas meal, but I do love a turkey and cranberry sandwich in the evening – with stuffing.”
