Felicity Jones has admitted she "ran around her hotel room screaming" after finding out she was up for a Leading Actress BAFTA.

The actress discovered she was nominated for her portrayal of Stephen Hawking's first wife Jane Wilde Hawking in The Theory Of Everything at midnight, as she's currently in Los Angeles ahead of this Sunday's Golden Globes.

The BBC quote her as saying: "I've been running round my hotel room screaming.

"It's midnight here. We're just about to go to bed, but we've all been emailing each other and exclaiming with excitement.

"I'm looking forward to celebrating with a glass of champagne and Skyping my family."

Stiff competition for Felicity comes in the form of Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike, Wild's Reese Witherspoon, Still Alice's Julianne Moore and Big Eyes' Amy Adams.

"I feel very lucky to be in such remarkable company. I've watched those performances and I feel like they're very exciting for women in film because they are all revolutionary performances."

Co-star Eddie Redmayne portrays Stephen Hawking in the film and is up for the Leading Actor prize.

He said: "James Marsh our director got such an amazing group of people. It was a passion project for everyone so the fact it has been nominated for so many things is a testament to him."

Competition for Eddie includes Benedict Cumberbatch, but he insists there's no rivalry between the two.

"He's an old friend. We've known each other for about 10 years now.

"He is the most magnificent actor. I've seen 'Imitation Game' and he is brilliant in it."

Ralph Fiennes is also up for the portrayal of Monsieur Gustave H in The Grand Budapest Hotel, and he can't wait to toast the nod with some alcohol.

In a statement he said: "I'm delighted of course. Dom Perignon all around for guests and staff at The Grand Budapest Hotel. And a free sample of Eau de Panache too, darling."

Mark Ruffalo tweeted about his Supporting Actor nomination for Foxcatcher, writing: "Thank you @BAFTA for the wonderful distinction of a nomination for @FoxcatcherUK I am honored. (sic)".

The event will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD, preceded by a red carpet show on BBC Three.
