Evan Rachel Wood once feared she "would never be happy" because she's bisexual.
The 28-year-old actress, who split from Jamie Bell in May 2014 after 19 months of marriage, with whom she has a two-year-old son, relates to people who have felt "panic and shame and depression" about their identity and says she still battles discrimination.
The 'Westworld' star, who first spoke about her sexuality in 2011, opened up about her personal struggles on Twitter after a fan questioned whether she is still bisexual, writing: "Actually I am divorced with a son and no matter who I am with I am #stillbisexual
"I can assure you that whatever 'straight privilege' I sometimes get accused of having, gets erased by #biphobia
"I have battled with myself most of my life because I wasn't gay or straight enough. I used to think I would never be happy. #biphobia."
Evan admits she initially felt worse about herself when she first came out and still feels like she has to constantly prove herself.
She tweeted: "I had to go through the same panic and shame and depression a lot of people in the LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender] community go through but when I came out a new found shame took over. Bi-shame. Feeling like people are judging you all over again but for different reasons.
"A weight was lifted but not completely. I still feel like we have to constantly prove ourselves & our worthiness within the community.
"Point being, its ok. We do exist. No one knows your journey but you. #BisexualAwareness (sic)."
