Eva Longoria thinks her new TV show 'Telenovela' is "10 times" funnier than 'Desperate Housewives'.
The 40-year-old actress shot to fame playing Gabrielle Solis for several years in the hit ABC series and her latest project is set to premiere on NBC on December 7.
In 'Telenovela' - on which the brunette beauty also acts as an executive producer - Eva plays Ana Sofia Calderon, the lead star of a Spanish soap opera who can't actually speak Spanish, and she has boasted it's comedy gold.
Speaking at the Global Gift Gala charity event at the Four Seasons Hotel in London on Monday night (30.11.15), she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I'm very excited about being a producer (and an actress). My television show premieres in one week in the United States. It's called 'Telenovela' and it's so funny, it's big and broad it's set behind-the-scenes of a Spanish soap opera and features all the drama and comedy that happens behind the scenes. I play the star of this Spanish soap opera that doesn't actually speak Spanish. It's so funny if you liked 'Housewives', this is 10 times funnier, to me. I think people are really going to love it."
Although she is busy with her acting career, producing responsibilities and tireless charity work, Eva insists she is still able to maintain a good work/life balance.
The star feels lucky to have a boyfriend like 47-year-old businessman Jose Antonio Baston who understands how important her career is to her and who always supports her choices.
She explained: "I have a very good balance in my life. I have a great boyfriend who understands how important my work is for me and I understand how important his work is to him. So it's a balancing act daily but it works."
Eva was joined at the Global Gift Gala - held in support of the Global Gift Foundation of which the actress is an honorary chairperson - by her close friend Victoria Beckham and a whole host of other celebrities, including Anastacia, Rachel Stevens and Ronan Keating and his wife Storm and Matt Smith and his girlfriend Lily James.
The London Gift Gala night is of six annual events held in different cities across the world to raise funds for the Foundation, which aims to help provide shelter, food, medical care and other essential needs to vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, in impoverished areas of the globe.
Speaking about her involvement with the charity, Eva said: "My older sister was mentally disabled and when you see something like that first hand, you become selfless. Volunteerism is one of the first few words I learnt and it's a part of my DNA. We benefited a lot from community programmes by churches. It changed my family's life. So I feel this great responsibility to pay it forward."
