Emma Corrin drew on some of her own experiences to play Princess Diana.
The 24-year-old actress stars as the Princess of Wales in the new series of the Netflix show and she has recalled how she drew on her own experience of being young and in love to portray Princess Diana's first meeting with her future husband, Prince Charles.
Speaking about one particular scene on the show, she told GQ Hype: "She had this idea of what she wanted it to be because she was so young. I drew on my own experience for that. I think of myself as young, but I was 23 when we were filming. Diana was 19; 16 at the start. When I was 16, I had a massive crush on our tennis coach and every time he came round to teach my brothers I used to sit outside and pretend to be reading something really intellectual. You do that. You do those things. You think you’re doing the coolest thing in the world when you’re a teenager and you like someone."
It comes after Emma admitted she was "very daunted" about playing Diana.
She said: "Initially I was very daunted, very much listened to the noise, heard all the voices, and got quickly frustrated and quite scared about it and thought, 'This isn't actually giving me anything to work with. So then I very much had to put blinkers on and just do my own thing."
