In July, the 29-year-old pop star had to cancel two European festival appearances on medical advice after she was told by doctors to take a rest from her 'Delirium World Tour' or risk damaging her voice permanently.

Refreshed and rested following a vacation to Saint Tropez in France, Ellie stepped back on stage at the Lollapalooza Festival held at Grant Park in Chicago on Sunday night (31.07.16) and was thrilled to bring the hits to her fans.

After powering through her energetic set - which included a stint on the drums at one point - Ellie couldn't help but share her joy about her live return on her social media accounts.

Taking to Twitter, she said: "Best show of the year damn @lollapalooza (sic)"

And on Instagram she posted: "I know people use this world for so many differed reasons ... But I am BLESS-ED. What a night @lolapalooza (sic)"

Ellie has played nearly 100 shows across the world in 2016 and opening up on her diagnosis she admitted she found it very frustrating to have to pull out of shows, but accepted her body needed to recuperate.

She shared: "My doctor said my voice might not bounce back. They did a bunch of tests on me and I have been diagnosed with exhaustion.

"I'm a hard worker. I don't cancel anything unless I really need to, but my doctor said, 'Ellie, your voice is going to burn out'. Glastonbury was the point where I realised I was pretty exhausted.

"It's all good though - I'm feeling really positive about the rest of the year."

Following her Lollapalooza appearance, the 'On My Mind' hitmaker is due to travel to New Zealand and Australia in September and October as her world tour continues.
