Eddie Redmayne was angry when he read an article which "dismissed" 10 years of his work as "pouting".
Redmayne 32, has earned rave reviews for his performance as Professor Stephen Hawking in upcoming film 'The Theory of Everything' but from reading opinion pieces about himself and the movie he has found out that many commentators have dismissed him as nothing more than pretty boy.
Quoted by ELLE UK the sometime model said "I read a review recently that said, 'Who knew Eddie Redmayne was more than just a pout?' You think, 'Nice you've recognised that, but at the same time that's 10 years of work you've just dismissed as pouting.' "
After he won the role as the acclaimed scientist, Redmayne discovered his friend Benedict Cumberbatch had previously portrayed the wheelchair-using genius in TV series 'Hawking' - a performance which earned him a BAFTA TV nomination for Best Actor.
But Redmayne made the decision not to watch Cumberbatch's interpretation of the man so he wouldn't be influenced by that portrayal.
Instead he says "I'd heard Ben's performance was extraordinary so I decided not to watch it because I'd have been tempted to steal from it."
