'EastEnders' Whitney Carter will be blamed for her husband Lee's financial woes.
The bolshy brunette - who is played by Shona McGarty - will clash again with Babe Smith (Annette Badland) after the outspoken family member claims her dreams of a "fairytale" wedding caused the depressed ex-soldier to take out loans he couldn't afford to repay, sparking major money woes for the entire family.
An insider said: "As far as Babe is to blame, Whitney is to blame for this sorry mess.
"She's never liked Whitney and thinks she's a spoilt princess. If Whit hadn't wanted a fairytale, Lee would never have run up those debts.
"She gives Whitney a stern dressing down, accusing her of wrecking Lee's life."
But it isn't only Whitney and Lee (Danny-Boy Hatchard) feeling the repercussions of his reckless financial woes, as his dad Mick (Danny Dyer) is struggling to cope with the situation after insisting on shouldering the burden.
The source told Inside Soap magazine: "It's fair to say that even Mick can't put a sunny twist on what they're up against.
"Lee's mistakes have come at a huge cost.
"While Mick would do anything to help his kids, he was stunned by the lengths Lee went to so he could keep money coming in.
"Mick feels he has no choice but to take on the debt to save Lee from disaster.
"However, he's ended up bringing all the same trouble to his own door."
Shona previously admitted she is "a bit frightened" of Annette when the veteran actress is in character as Babe.
She said: "It's so much fun to deliver all the shy little comments that she gives to Babe, who is a sweetheart, is so scary when she's in character.
"I'm a bit frightened of her! But it's good to see Whit stick up for herself, because with a mother like Bianca, you'd end up being a bit shouty, too!"
