Dustin Hoffman

Dustin Hoffman is auctioning off a selection of his prized possessions and antiques.

The 76-year-old actor has decided to sell hundreds of items and collectables from his triplex apartment in The San Remo apartment building on Central Park West in Manhattan, New York City.

Hoffman has organised over two hundred lots to go under the hammer with Nye & Co including furniture, art and movie paraphernalia from Hoffman's private screening room.

Highlights of the sale include "a George III leather-upholstered easy chair, a mid-18th century Irish mahogany pier table, a Regency étagère, an oversized gate-leg table and a pair of Chinese pier tables with other examples of Asian furniture."

The double Academy Award-winner will also be auctioning off collections from high end designers including Cartier, Baccarat, Steuben and Lalique glass and Biedermeier, Stickley and Qing Dynasty furniture.

Although the sale won't include props or memorabilia from his own movies he is offering two autographed and dated movie projectors with reels and lenses as well as black-and-white stills from the 1961 movie 'Lola' directed by Jacques Demy.

The lots also feature a collection of porcelain dolls starting at a mere $25 up to an initial asking price of $1,500.

The auction opened online on December 3, following Dustin's decision to unload his 8,000 square foot luxury apartment - previously home to Steven Spielberg, Steve Martin and Diane Keaton - and will continue until December 17.
