Drew Barrymore believes she once received a visit from her late father's ghost.

The 40-year-old actress claims she felt John Barrymore's presence during "a very unique moment" shortly before scattering his ashes at the Joshua Tree National Park in California.
The 'Miss You Already' star, who helped care for the late actor at a hospice before his death in 2004, said: "We put his ashes at Joshua Tree. He loved Joshua Tree and I had spent a lot of time with him there whenever I visited. So we took his ashes there and I went to this little motel and I was sleeping until we were all going to wake up and spread the ashes. And I felt a thing and I sat up in my bed and the doorknob of my room opened and the door just opened. And I just sat up in bed and I was like, 'Dad?'
"It was a moment where you can have hope about anything being possible, and it was a very unique moment."
Drew remembers her father as a "very free" spirit and says he was "very charismatic and odd."
She told 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show': "Well, he did [bathe] with lemons and olive oil. He felt the lemons were the cleansing and the olive oil was the moisturising. He was like a human salad."
Meanwhile, the star admits she "lied [her] her face off" in a bid to land a role in one of her godfather Steven Spielberg's films when she was six.
She said: "I lied to him. I lied my face off. I told him I was in a rock-and-roll band. I was a drummer, of course, because drummers are the coolest. And that I was a cook.
"Pippi Longstocking was my hero so I just felt like girls can do anything, there's no ceiling, and I sold myself and told my little stories."
The director eventually recommended she audition for 'E.T.,' the film which launched her career.
