Dougie Poynter is supporting Ellie Goulding during her time off sick from work.
The 'Army' hitmaker cancelled two shows in Latvia and England on Friday (14.5.07.16) after she was diagnosed with exhaustion and has turned to her ex-boyfriend - who she split from in March - for "comfort".
The pair were spotted getting close at a documentary screening last week and a source told The Sun newspaper: "Ellie was sat next to Dougie at a screening of the documentary she's supporting called Racing Extinction. It's a really tough watch, but Ellie was an emotional wreck and she broke down in tears. He put his arms around her and held her before they both left and went to the pub next door. It's been one of the toughest weeks in Ellie's career and Dougie obviously knows her very well -- and exactly how to comfort her.
"While she is going through a horrible time, it does seem like her turmoil has brought them much closer and made them realise what they're missing."
Ellie revealed this year that she will quit music for 12 months after her tour to deal with the heartbreak of splitting from the McFly bassist.
And the 'Explosions' hitmaker previously described her relationship with Dougie as an "unfinished story".
When asked if they could work things out, she said: "Maybe. I hope so. We have something I know is special and I think other people see it - my friends see it, my family see it...
"But I think some things are just kind of unfinished, an unfinished story. I hope so - he's a real gem and he's doing so well and he's keeping busy, as am I. I hope so, he's a great guy."
Dougie has also admitted he still loves the blonde beauty and hasn't ruled out a reunion, but admits he found it "hard" because they had to spend so much time apart.
He said: "We love each other very much. We are the best of friends. We hung out at Coachella, like all day, with her friends and my friends. It was really, really cool. Everything is totally fine.
"It's just both being all over the place. Like I said, we still get on really well. She's one of the most amazing people I've ever met. But just right now, it's hard. I'm single now."
