Dougie Poynter has celebrated five years of being sober.
Monday (15.02.16) marked the poignant anniversary of the McFly bassist giving up alcohol and he took to his Twitter account to acknowledge the occasion and his achievement.
His tweet read: "Remember that time is used to drink? 5 years sober today #mesosober (sic)"
Dougie - who is in a relationship with Ellie Goulding - previously battled depression and alcohol and substance abuse and has previously admitted he attempted suicide in February 2011 before going to rehab clinic The Priory to get help.
Speaking about getting clean, he previously said: "I went into rehab after a long time having issues with myself. One thing led to another and all of a sudden I was in there."
Dougie, 28, shared his story of his alcoholism and suicide attempt in the McFly autobiography 'Unsaid Things... Our Story' - first published in 2012 - and admitted it was actually "therapeutic" to recall the darkest time in his life.
He said: "It's always good to reflect on that sort of stuff. I'm in a really, really good place now. It is quite easy to forget. It's quite therapeutic to go back, quite scary and a bit of an eye opener into how dark it can get if you take your foot off the gas and stop looking after yourself."
