Derek Hough has been "inspired" by Hayley Erbert amid her recovery from an emergency craniectomy.
The 38-year-old dancer has taken to social media to heap praise on his wife and to thank fans for their recent outpouring of support.
Derek - who married Hayley earlier this year - wrote on Instagram: "Hayley has always inspired me with her will, her strength, and her resilience and no more so than in the last 48 hours. She is now on the long road of recovery. Words cannot express how grateful and thankful we are for the support and love that you have given us. The kindness that we've been shown in this incredibly unfathomable, and life changing time is immeasurable. The offers of assistance that have poured in have been so humbling and appreciated. Our hope is that as a family, we can somehow and someway pay it forward. (sic)"
Hayley recently underwent emergency brain surgery after she was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma during their Symphony Of Dance tour.
Derek told his Instagram followers that his wife became "disoriented and was taken to the hospital" at the end of a show in Washington, D.C.
He wrote: "She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy."
A craniectomy is a neurosurgical procedure that involves removing a portion of the skull in order to relieve pressure on the brain.
It's used to treat conditions including an intracranial hematoma – a build-up of blood within the brain tissue or underneath the skull, which then presses on the brain.
It’s usually caused by a blood vessel in the brain that bursts, typically as a result of some sort of head trauma.
