Demi Lovato wants to adopt a child.
The 28-year-old pop star assumed she'd already have children at this stage in her life, but she now doesn’t see herself ever getting pregnant.
The 'Cool for the Summer' hitmaker - who split from her fiance Max Ehrich last year - explained: "I used to [want to have kids of my own]. I think if anything, I want to adopt, more than anything."
Demi and Max became engaged in July last year and, at the time, the singer was expecting to have a baby with the actor one day.
However, she admits that her life hasn't gone according to the plan she created.
She told 'The Joe Rogan Experience' podcast: "I was engaged to a man last year. I totally thought that I’d be married, maybe pregnant, by now. And that’s not the case … I know that my life is not going according to my plan."
At the moment, Demi is determined to adopt. But she admits that her plans could change again in the future.
She explained: "Life doesn’t go according to any plan. So, I could sit here and say, ‘Yes, I would love to have children.’ But I don’t know, because that might change next week.
"I think in this moment, I want to adopt, for sure."
Demi first found fame as a child, appearing in the TV series 'Barney & Friends', and she recently admitted that living her life in the spotlight has caused her to suffer post-traumatic stress disorder.
The 'Confident' hitmaker revealed she actually didn't believe her diagnosis at first.
She shared: "At first I was, like, woah, excuse me? How is that so? And the therapist explained to me the hyper-vigilancy that you maintain when you’re in public.
"I can hear the snap of a phone from 20 feet away; I can feel it when a camera is pointed at me, even if it’s 100 feet away. It’s that hyper-vigilancy."
