Demi Lovato inspired her mother to tackle her own mental health issues.
The 'Skyscraper' hitmaker's mom Diana De La Garza has battled with anxiety in the past but Demi has seen a change in her mom and she is now "happier and calmer".
Appearing alongside her mother on Good Morning America, Demi said: "I feel very proud of her. I know it's something that's not easy, first-hand being somebody that's struggled with mental illness and being open and talking about it: I know that it's not easy to be open with the world. The changes that I've seen in my mom: She's happier, and she's calmer. She used to suffer with anxiety, and when she self-medicated, she was more depressed, and she kind of had a cloud over her. Now she glows, and she is just so cheerful, and she's the most positive person I know."
Meanwhile, Demi has recently been celebrating herself as she marks six years of sobriety.
She wrote on Twitter earlier this week: "Just officially turned 6 years sober. So grateful for another year of joy, health and happiness. It IS possible. [praying emoji] (sic)"
The 25-year-old singer is also offering free therapy sessions to her fans before each show on her upcoming tour.
She said: "Mike and CAST Centers played a vital part in my recovery and I think it's important to helping start hard but necessary conversations about mental health and addiction recovery. I'm really excited to bring them on tour with me again in hopes to reach and inspire thousands of fans."
