Demi Lovato thinks it can be "very dangerous" putting yourself down.
The 'Confident' singer - who has openly battled with eating disorders and negative body image in the past - insists she does still get insecure but admits it can be a good thing as it helps her to stay positive in the end.
She explained: "I do have to stay accountable. Because there are people who look up to me for inspiration. There are times when I don't feel confident and I feel insecure about my body. I think what's important is that I walk the walk, I don't just talk the talk. I have to stay accountable.
"Actually it helps me sometimes. Because I can look in the mirror and feel insecure, and then I'm like, 'No, that's not what you stand for. You're confident, you're beautiful, you are enough the way you are.'
"[But putting yourself down can be] very dangerous. And it's important that young people don't get used to that. that they grow up feeling confident and empowered."
And the 23-year-old beauty also revealed she chose to name her album 'Confident' as it best described how she feels at the moment.
She told Brazil's Papel Pop: "Confidence is something that everybody struggles with at some point in their life. And I'm now at a point in my life where I feel like i've overcome that obstacle to some degree.
"Some days I won't feel confident but right now I do and at this period in my life I've never felt more confident in my music and who I am as an artist and I wanted to name my album that."
