Demi Lovato wants to be a young mother but knows it isn't the right time for her to settle down.
The 'X Factor' USA judge, who is rumoured to be dating her on-again/off-again boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama again, claims she is already yearning to settle down but knows it isn't the right time.
The singer told the December/January issue of Latina magazine: "I'm a Texas girl, so my instinct is to have babies early. In my heart I'm like, 'Okay, it's time to have babies!' But it's not. I have so much life ahead of me that I actually have to slow my roll. We'll see where my life is in 5 years, but I definitely see myself as a mom in 10."
Demi also hinted that she hasn't given up on her relationship with former 'That 70s Show' star Wilmer, 33, because he is her best friend.
She said: "I look for someone who makes me laugh. Because 20, 30 years from now, sometimes the spark fades, but when you're with someone who's your best friend - that's what makes a relationship last."
Demi, who previously sought treatment in rehab for an eating and self-harming disorder, celebrated her 21st birthday in Kenya with her mother and a few friends after flying there with Canadian-based charity Free The Children, which works internationally to empower and enable youth to be agents of change, and was eager to prove she didn't need to have a party.
She said: "I noticed that there's this perception on turning 21, that you have to go out and get drunk. It's different for me because I'm in recovery. I also want to set an example for others. You don't have to booze it up, you can do something else."
