Demi Lovato has had a “rollercoaster” year.
The 28-year-old singer has opened up on her 2020 so far, which has seen her forced to cancel her musical comeback because of the coronavirus, as well as begin dating Max Ehrich, whom she then got engaged to, and subsequently split from all in a matter of months.
She said: “[This year has] been such a roller-coaster. I mean, honestly, for me, the beginning of the year started out, I was on this trajectory to have a pretty eventful career, and I was planning my comeback.”
Demi didn’t address her whirlwind romance with Max directly, but did say she’s learned some importance lessons about self-acceptance this year.
She added during an appearance on the ‘Today’ show: “I think the most important thing that I’ve learned is how much I am OK with myself and loving myself. It wasn’t until this year that I really started exploring the things that bring joy to my life in little ways.”
The ‘Anyone’ singer began dating Max in March, before getting engaged in July and breaking up in September.
And following their split, 29-year-old actor Max has claimed he was part of a big "calculated PR stunt”, as Demi released her new song, ‘Still Have Me’, shortly after they broke up.
Speaking on his Instagram Live, he said: "It's just the craziest thing. This is the most bizarre experience that I hope no one ever has to experience, ever. Because no person deserves to feel this way. "Pete Davidson didn’t deserve to feel this way. Do you think he wrote that text to Mac Miller? Ha. Open your eyes. Calculated PR stunt, but my team is going to hate me for saying any of this." Max insisted he was "in love" with Demi, and now feels like he was "used" by her. He added: "I was in love. The whole world should f****** know it. I thought I found the real deal, now I found out that I was used. But I hope the song is number one, because you know what, if that's what someone wants in the material world, here you go, you have it. I hope this makes you happy. Enjoy. You just lost someone who loved you fully, completely, infinitely, for everything."
