David Hasselhoff walks around in the UK with a mask of his own face on when he wants to avoid being recognised in an attempt to start living a "normal life".

Hasselhoff revealed he often disguises himself with his own image if he wants to remain anonymous as part of an attempt to start living a "normal life".

Speaking about his new spoof documentary, 'Hoff the Record', at UKTV Live, a preview event to showcase the broadcaster's upcoming shows, he said: "It's kind of a highlighted version of my life. But we don't need to highlight it, I'm trying to figure out how to live a normal life.

"Sometimes I walk around with a David Hasselhoff mask on and people don't bother me."

The 62-year-old actor also joked that when he does get recognised while he is out and about it is probably because of his role as himself in animated adventure film 'The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie' rather than his parts in hugely successful shows 'Baywatch' and 'Knight Rider'.

He added: "I think my whole life is improv. The problem I have now is I've got to figure out where to live, where to shoot, because people seem to know who I am - I think it's because of the 'SpongeBob' movie.

"They say, 'Are you David Hasselhoff? Are you friends with SpongeBob? Do you know him personally?'

"It's a cartoon!"

'Hoff the Record' sees the star play a spoof version of himself who has been through five divorces instead of his real life figure of two and arrives in the UK in an attempt to reboot his career.
