David Gandy has joked David Beckham is copying his career.
The 35-year-old model can see similarities in the decisions he has made and those the retired soccer star has made and thinks the UK should be "proud" of their endeavours.
He said: "Well, I did the white pants in 2006 and then he did Armani. I became an ambassador for whisky, and how he has his whisky brand...
"I don't think we're in competition though and hopefully people should be proud there are two Essex guys taking on the world, promoting Britishness."
And David is impressed by his rival's wife, Spice Girls singer-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham.
He added: "What she's done with her brand is astounding. It's magnificent."
David - who is an ambassador for the British Fashion Council - likes to do what he can to promote small British businesses.
He told Red magazine: "It upsets me that half the companies on Savile Row aren't British-owned. When I see a British company I believe in, I'm in the privileged position to give it a chance.
"London is an extraordinary place to be and we should be proud of our great brands. I'm proud to have stuck here. I belong to England."
