The 56-year-old star played Miranda Hobbes' (Cynthia Nixon) love interest Steve Brady in the hit HBO sitcom and the subsequent spin-off movies, and though he is not expected to appear in the show's upcoming HBO Max limited series 'And Just Like That...', if they could make it work, he'd be down for reprising his role.
He told Us Weekly magazine: “I really love that show. I think it’s really interesting that they’ve brought it back."
On working with Cynthia, he continued: “[She’s] a dream to work with."
However, David admitted it would feel bizarre playing Steve without his on-screen mom Mary Brady played by Anne Meara, who passed away in 2015.
He added: “That’s kind of heartbreaking because she was a dear lady and a dear friend of mine. It’s a sad thing to go back because that character, you know, [the] lineage is gone, and Anne as a human being wouldn’t be there. It’s a strange thing, but we’ll see … if it can work out, we may be going down that road."
It was recently claimed that Chris Noth is also not set to return for the limited series.
The 66-year-old actor starred in the hit series as Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) love interest Mr. Big, going on to marry the journalist in the 2008 spin-off movie.
While it was previously confirmed that Kim Cattrall won't be returning as Samantha Jones, show bosses previously insisted her absence would be fitting because the programme would reflect the way friendships change and evolve over time.
As well as Sarah, 55, and Cynthia, 54, Kristin Davis, 56, is also on board as Charlotte York Goldenblatt.
Kim’s absence from the spin-off series also comes as she has been locked in a feud with 55-year-old Sarah Jessica for some time.
In 2017, 64-year-old Kim said she has “never been friends” with her co-star, before later insisting the actress “could have been nicer” on the set of the popular TV show.
