David Beckham wants to launch a chain of pie-and-mash cafes.
The 38-year-old retired soccer star - who is believed to have invested in Gordon Ramsay's latest venture, which will see a Mediterranean-themed eaterie opening in London on September 16 - is keen to exploit the "gap in the market" and has been working with Gordon in the hopes of producing a franchise of eateries which would sell his "favourite grub".
A friend of the famous hunk told The Sun newspaper: "Instead of getting involved in Gordon's new restaurant, David wants to open a pie-and-mash caff in London as a starting point for a worldwide chain.
"David was just looking around Gordon's new restaurant and it's been mis-interpreted that he was investing in the place. There was an option for David to invest early on but he wanted to stick to opening somewhere that would sell his own favourite grub.
"David and Gordon agree there's a gap in the market and they want to bring it to the rest of the world."
In 2010 David and Gordon registered the name PM - which stands for Pie & Mash - under their joint initials DBGR with the Intellectual Property Office.
