Earlier this year, the 47-year-old actor was rumoured to have shot a bit part as a Stormtrooper in the latest installment in the sci-fi franchise, but he denied the allegations.

But now film critic Baz Bamigboye has appeared to confirm that Daniel did in fact shoot scenes for the new movie.

A spokesperson associated with Disney, which purchased Lucasfilm, told the Daily Mail's critic: "You're close to the truth. Nothing can be said on the record, because it will be denied."

Apparently Daniel was shooting the latest James Bond movie 'Spectre' at Pinewood Studios at the same time that 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' director J.J. Abrams was at the Buckinghamshire complex.

As the pair were at the studios at the same time, the prospect of a cameo came up, and Daniel is said to have jumped at the chance.

The source continued: "They concocted the cameo together. I don't know which scene it is but yes, it does involve Daniel playing a stormtrooper, because they wear helmets and for the most part they're anonymous."

While the source did not reveal which scene Daniel appears in, he apparently hinted that it was at the beginning of the film, when the Stormtroopers infiltrate a village.
