Daisy Lowe had "nothing to give" her former boyfriend because she was too busy.
The 27-year-old model - who recently split from model Frankie Wade - was too exhausted by her training for 'Strictly Come Dancing' to give time to her relationship.
She said: "At the beginning, which is supposed to be the most joyful honeymoon period, I had nothing to give him. We could have coped with the pressure if we had been together for ages and had known all of the ins and outs of each other.
"But we had just met and suddenly it was like, 'Who is this really tired person?' I didn't really know who this really tired person was either. I'm never usually this exhausted every single day. Frankie deserves more than that and so do I. I deserve to take care of myself. Now when I get home, I have a bath and take myself to bed."
And whilst the brunette beauty says Frankie was incredibly supportive of her stint on the latin and ballroom show, their relationship couldn't stand the "intensity" of the show.
She added: "Love didn't ever come into mine and Frankie's relationship. We never talked about it because we only dated for a few months. He is such an amazing man but I've only got one opportunity to do Strictly and I want to give it absolutely everything.
"He embraced it and was really supportive. He was in the green room week after week, chatting to my family for hours while I was on the show. But trying to start a new relationship at the same time was just too much. Strictly is the most intense thing I've ever done, as well as the best. And I need to think about getting through each week before I can think about anything else."
However, Daisy hasn't ruled out the possibility that they could rekindle their romance in the future.
Asked if there is a chance they could get back together, she told The Sun on Sunday: "I'm trying to live day by day, and I'm going to take each day as it comes."
