The 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' hitmaker, 62, once found herself battling with depression after her financial status plummeted beyond her control, but she managed to pull herself off rock bottom and look at the positives.
She explained: "My life hasn't always been this good. My parents divorced and I left home when I was 17 'cos of all the sh*t that was happening.
"I've also had money problems and suffered from depression, but you can be sad about something for the rest of your life or you can step out of that sh*t."
Although the blonde beauty, who is married to actor David Thornton, believes she's in a good place financially and emotionally at the moment, she still lies awake at night thinking things over in her head.
Speaking to The Times newspaper magazine, she said: "David goes to bed at a normal time, but I hate going to bed. I can be up until two or three am just thinking and listening to the city. I'm a night-time person: I love the colours; I love the noise and the quiet."
