Craig David wants to do “something big” for his 40th birthday.
The 39-year-old singer will reach the milestone age on May 5, and has said he hopes the coronavirus pandemic has subsided by the time his birthday arrives, as he wants to be able to celebrate the occasion with a big party.
He said: “It’s May 5, I’m putting it out there. I would love to do something to mark the occasion. I’ve not been bothered about the other birthdays.
“They have been cool, I do something small with my friends and family.
“But if the world is in a situation where I can do something big I want to do it. If not I’ll just get in a good cake and indulge.”
And whilst some people dread turning 40, Craig admitted he can’t wait to reach the new milestone, because he feels as though the “best years” of his life are yet to come.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I am looking forward to turning 40.
“I feel like the best years of my life have been gearing up to here.”
Meanwhile, the ‘7 Days’ hitmaker said earlier this year he’s happier than ever after he dropped his intense workout routine, which saw him hit the gym every single day.
Craig decided to scale back his exercise regime because he realised his extreme plan wasn’t healthy, and now spaces out his workouts in order to keep him fit without pushing himself too far.
He said in February: “At certain points in my life I was pushing for aesthetics. I’ve realised that to sustain a healthy lifestyle - especially being on the road - is more important than if you are rocking a six-pack or not.”
Craig said he began to obsess over his body when he moved to Miami, Florida, because it was “easy” to lose track of his health.
He added: “It was very body-conscious in Miami and you very easily slip into that mode.”
