Corinne Bailey Rae got over the death of her late ex-husband Jason Rae by going on tour with her band.
The 'Put Your Records On' singer - who is now married to her producer Steve Brown - tragically lost her former saxophonist spouse Jason in 2008, of a suspected drugs overdose, and in a new interview, she's opened up for the first time about how she dealt with the grief after he passed away.
Asked how she coped with coming to terms with being a widow, she said: "What else was I going to do? I was till very much in that phase. It hadn't been that long since Jason had died, and it was still my biggest preoccupation in life, a very real and persent thing. Playing live with my band - my most trusted friends - seemed like the only thing to do."
However, while playing concerts across the globe in America, South Korea, Brazil and Indonesia was like therapy for the jazzy pop singer, 37, she found the promotion side hard to deal with because she wanted to keep her heartache to herself.
She added to The Independent newspaper: "It was great and the shows really helped focus my mind. But the promotion wasn't music fun. The interviews I had to do ... they were hard."
Meanwhile, the brunette beauty also opened up about her marriage to Steve - who she tied the knot with in 2013 - and said finding happiness again felt "incredible" and unexpected.
She said: "If you have a time in your life where you weren't happy, and in fact, couldn't imagine ever being happy again, then to rediscover it is incredible."
