Conan O'Brien, who notoriously follows just one person on Twitter, refuses to follow celebrities on the social networking site and even turns down his A-list pals' requests.

Conan O'Brien refuses to follow celebrities on Twitter

The 51-year-old talk show host randomly selected one person to follow in 2010 - fan Sarah Killen - and has yet to add to his list, often refusing celebrity pals who ask him to connect on the social networking site.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I've had so many celebrities [ask] ... I ran into Slash a couple of years ago and Slash said, 'Hey man, follow me on Twitter!' and I said, 'No, I only follow one person.' And he's like, 'Who?', and I said, 'Sarah Killen', and he's like, 'Who's that?' and I go, 'She lives in Michigan.'

"I've had people that want me to follow, like Slash. They say, 'Will you follow me?' and I say, 'Can't do it. I'm committed to one person.' "

Conan changed the life of his lucky fan, who became a viral sensation and even had companies vying to pay for her wedding due to her internet infamy.

The irreverent star said: "When I met her she was single but now she's got kids, her whole life has changed since I met her. But I loved her, she was very straight-forward ... she was the perfect person to choose."

The 'Conan' host recently joined Tinder in a skit for his show, which also featured hunky actor Dave Franco, and he admits he is "fascinated" by the mobile phone app which allows users to find potential love matches based on common interests.

He said: "All my staff was on Tinder, so I had to find out what this is all about so I did that remote [skit] with Dave Franco. I was just fascinated by it - it's a new world. I don't know how I would have dealt with that if I was in my twenties, I wouldn't have had the nerve to put myself out there like that."

Conan's talk show is set to launch in the UK next week and it seems there's plenty of action behind-the-scenes as well as on camera.

Talking about his staff's Tinder habits, he quipped: "I think, yes, it is a big orgy, my show - you should get that out there, 'Come visit the set of Conan in Los Angeles because it is a non-stop orgy.' I'm not part of it because of my own inadequacies, but that's what it's like backstage."

Catch 'Conan' on new free to air channel truTV (11pm Monday-Thursday from 4th August) - channel number 68, the home of larger-than-life characters in real situations.
