Clive Owen's daughter inspired him to get involved with charity work.

The 51-year-old actor - who has Hannah, 18, and Eve, 16, with wife Sarah-Jane Fenton - got "very involved" with the work of Free the Children after one of his girls got the chance to see what they do up close, and now it is an organisation close to the whole family's hearts.

Speaking at WE Day - which celebrates young people making a difference in their local and global communities - in London this morning (09.03.16), he told BANG Showbiz: "I've been very involved with this charity for a number of years and I'm just coming to help out.

"My kids are very involved, my daughter went on a trip with Free the Children and then my family went on a trip and we got very involved and have been trying to help them since. They do incredible work."

Tickets for WE Day - which featured performances from Labrinth and Fleur East and guest speakers including Rita Ora, Professor Brian Cox and Princess Beatrice - are not available to buy, instead students from across the country earn their way with the actions they take for one local and one global cause of their choice, and the 'Knick' actor thinks the global initiative is great.

He added to BANG Showbiz: "The great thing about it is they host these big events, they do a lot in Canada and the States, and they host an annual event, and you can't buy a ticket.

"You have to earn it raising money doing some global action or local action, and so all the kids here have been working hard throughout the year raising money for good causes and this is kind of their thank you really.

"They host an event and they get a lot of bands and really inspirational speakers come and create a great day for everybody."
