Chris Martin plans to continue "being open and vulnerable" in his music.
The Coldplay frontman, who announced his split from Gwyneth Paltrow at the end of March after 10 years of marriage, admits the band's new album, 'Ghost Stories,' is full of songs about his personal life because he finds it therapeutic to sing about "real" things.
The 37-year-old British rocker told the crowd at the band's iHeartRadio album release party in Burbank, California on Friday night (16.05.14): "We made the decision about 15 years ago that being open and vulnerable would be the thing that we would do.
"That means that what we sometimes lose in poeticism, we gain just by truth."
He added: "That's something that means something to me, but I never want to say what it's about because it might mean something to someone else. Hopefully, whatever we're singing is real."
Chris - who recently denied he is dating TV presenter Alexa Chung after they were spotted having dinner - and 'Shakespeare In Love' actress Gwyneth's split was announced through her lifestyle website Goop, when she famously claimed they were "consciously uncoupling".
However, they still live together for the sake of their children, Apple, nine, and Moses, eight.
The former couple have put on a united front despite their separation and have attended several of the same events.
