Chris Martin bid $600,000 for a painting by British street artist Banksy at at Sean Penn's star-studded Help Haiti Home Gala at the Montage Beverly Hills on Saturday night.
Martin 36, and his wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 41, were among the guests at Sean Penn's star-studded Help Haiti Home Gala at the Montage Beverly Hills on Saturday night (11.01.14), and he couldn't resist bidding for a painting by British street artist Banksy.
The singer was spotted repeatedly holding up his bidder's card with the number 453 for the piece of art and his fellow guest Piers Morgan confirmed Chris went home with the prize.
The CNN star, who also got into a $1 million bidding war against his colleague Anderson Cooper for a custom Jeff Koons painting featuring Sean Penn, wrote on Twitter: "Blimey... Chris Martin just bid $600,000 for a new Banksy painting at Sean Penn Haiti fundraiser. Gwyneth giggling..."
Chris and Gwyneth, who celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary in early December, enjoyed their second night out on the town in a row and were very affectionate at the event despite usually preferring to keep a low profile.
The couple, who have a nine-year-old daughter, Apple, and seven-year-old son, Moses, also attended the grand opening of fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg's new exhibition, Journey of a Dress, in Los Angeles together on Friday night (10.01.14).
