Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has been written out of Derek Hough's autobiography.

Singer Cheryl Fenandez-Versini had dated the professional dancer following her split from first husband Ashley Cole and he's reportedly still so "devastated" about their break up that he's chosen not to include her in his memoir.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has reportedly not been included in ex-boyfriend Derek Hough's autobiography because he's still "devastated" about their split.

A source revealed: "Derek honestly thought Cheryl was the one when they were together. He doted on her every word and helped her come back emotionally after he split with Ashley."

The 29-year-old star - who has won reality show 'Dancing with the Stars' five times - was thought to be preparing to propose to Cheryl, 31, after nursing her back to health following her contraction of malaria.

The source continued: "He was also at her bedside morning, noon and night when she suffered her malaria scare after their break to Africa."

However, Cheryl - who referred to Derek as her "rock" after meeting him on the set of her music video for her single 'Parachutes' - ended their relationship when she left Los Angeles for good.

According to The Sun newspaper, the insider added: "Cheryl had never been treated like that before and adored Derek. However, in 2011 she called time on their love affair when she moved full time back to England.

"Derek was devastated. He tried to win her back, but they never made it work.

"The scars are still there and we think he couldn't relive the heartache. Derek had kept the relationship a secret in the most part, but sharing his heartache was too much, too."

Cheryl later went on to date American dancer Tre Holloway before tying the knot with French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in a secret ceremony earlier this year.
