Cheryl Fernandez-Versini is "taking charge of her future".
The 'Only Human' singer recently split from husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini but has reportedly told friends she isn't going to let her heartbreak stop her from finding happiness again and won't get dragged down in the details of her divorce.
A source said: "Cheryl is a strong woman. Despite this setback, she's told friends she stands by her choices and is taking charge of her future.
"She's leaving those around her to concern themselves with her finances. She just wants to focus on finding happiness again."
The 32-year-old singer turned to close friend Simon Cowell when making a decision about the future of her marriage, and though he'd have supported her if she'd decided to stay with JB, he encouraged her to "walk away from negativity and find strength and happiness".
The source added to Grazia magazine: "Simon was a true friend. Cheryl hates to be judged, hates the idea the world is going to say, 'I told you so' but Simon is very clear thinking.
"To him, life is about happiness and working out what makes you happy.
"If she'd wanted to stick with JB he'd have supported her, but they both knew where things were heading."
