On this week's celebrity gossip column, we have a Bridgerton tragedy and a very stroppy Piers. The hit Netflix period drama broke the internet with a shocking announcement that, quite possibly, ruined Bank Holiday for many fans. Piers Morgan faced meditation therapy and a very concerned friend. And Katy Perry embraced her natural body hair on national TV.
Stay tuned for the latest celebrity gossip.
Regé-Jean Page won't be in Bridgerton Season 2
The Duke of Hastings is, in my opinion, the best part of Bridgerton and the main reason I watched the show. Regé-Jean Page played the Duke of Hastings in his first role on the hit streaming platform, Netflix. And my gosh, did he hit the ground running with his washboard abs, dreamy eyes and charming demeanour. However, Regé-Jean Page will not be returning for the second season of Bridgerton – and I'm heartbroken.
The second season will focus on Daphne's older brother, Lord Anthony and his quest to find a wife. The series is based on Julia Quinn's novels, and it seems the producers of the show are following the books much more closely than we hoped.
Regé-Jean told Variety that he always knew his role had the shelf life of one season. He was initially drawn to the short life span of the role.
Netflix and Shondaland announced that Regé-Jean's character would not be returning in an announcement last week. They revealed a notice written by Lady Whistledown herself, saying:
"Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton's quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings."
"We'll miss Simon's presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family," it continued. "Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear."
Katy Perry has stopped shaving her legs
Apparently, we still live in a society where a woman's leg hair is celebrity gossip. Nonetheless, Katy Perry has decided to embrace the natural look and stopped shaving her legs since her daughter's birth. In August 2020, Katy Perry gave birth to her daughter Daisy Dove, with fiancé Orland Bloom.
During Sunday's episode of American Idol, Katy revealed her hairy legs to the world. The hit pop singer has been a judge on American Idol for years. On the latest episode, Katy exclaimed that the contestant, Cassandra Coleman, made her leg hair stand up with her incredible performance.
Katy said: "A couple of things, your voice is a spiritual experience. It is otherworldly angelic. "And as a new mother, I don't have very much time, so I have quit shaving my legs. But when you sang, the hair on my legs grew an inch and a half. So, full-body chills."
She then proceeded to show her leg on top of the judge's desk. Good for you girl, let your leg hair shine.
Holly Willoughby encouraged Piers Morgan to meditate
Holly Willoughby and Piers Morgan have been friends for years.
Piers departed from Good Morning Britain after a rather heated debate over Meghan and Harry's interview. Meghan opened up about her mental health while working as a senior royal in the UK. Piers claimed that he did not believe anything Meghan said and left GMB after sharing his comments.
Holly Willoughby reportedly advised Piers to splash out on a £249 seven-hour meditation class to lower his blood pressure.
Piers said: "Holly then sent me a link to one that costs £249 for seven hours of meditation technique training live broadcasted to my home which would include advice on 'managing difficult situations', 'nailing interviews' and 'making hangovers less horrible'."
Holly was just trying to look out for her old pal and help him through a rocky time. Piers apparently ignored her advice and said: "This would apparently all ensure I am 'no longer ruled by my emotions.' Problem is that I can't imagine any thing more boring than not being ruled by my emotions."
