Michael Douglas' drug addict son reportedly contributed to his split from wife Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Cameron Douglas - who is currently serving a jail sentence for narcotics distribution - is rumoured to have played a major role in the Hollywood couple's decision to call time on their 13-year marriage after behaviour drove a wedge between the pair.
A source told RadarOnline.com: "A big divide between Michael and Catherine has become Cameron."
Michael's 34-year-old son - who he has with ex-wife Diandra Luker - received a five-year sentence for heroin possession and conspiracy to distribute narcotics in 2009, but his prison term was extended by four and a half years in 2011 for committing drug infractions behind bars.
The source explained: "Cameron is in solitary confinement and hasn't seen his father in an eternity, as he can't have visitors. Michael is beside himself. It consumes him.
"Cameron and Catherine never seemed to have a close relationship and I think Michael always felt she just didn't care for the situation. He probably felt there was little sympathy from her, toward him and Cameron."
The couple - who have not been photographed together since April - confirmed their split yesterday (28.08.13) and admit they are "taking time apart to evaluate their marriage" in a bid to work through their issues and hopefully save their relationship.
Michael, 68, is currently on vacation on a yacht off the coast of Sardinia, while Catherine, 43, is at home in New York with their two children, son Dylan, 12, and 10-year-old daughter Carys.
Their marriage has been rocked by numerous other stresses in the last three years with Michael being diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010 - which he beat - and Catherine suffering from bouts of bipolar II disorder, most recently in May this year.
