The singer/songwriter went onto his Facebook account to thank his fans for their support and to tell them that his son Merlin had many operations following the car crash in Shropshire before Chrsitmas. He was left with a head injury and broken legs, pelvis and left arm. 

He wrote: "On behalf of BF and the family, many thanks for all the kind messages of support for Merlin following his road accident before Christmas.

"Merlin has undergone a series of operations and is now stable in hospital, with a long period of recovery ahead of him. (sic)"

He has also said his thanks to the ambulance service who got Merlin safely out of the wreckage and mentioned the staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where he received the care he needed. 

He added in the message: "A huge thank you to the amazing emergency services provided by the Wellington Fire Service and West Midland Ambulance Service, together with the superb care and attention from all the medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham."

He wrote on Instagram: "He had a head-on collision, has lots of broken bones and is having an operation on his heart as we speak.

"He was conscious before he went into theatre and his biggest concern was that he had missed Christmas! He is in the best possible hospital for this type of procedure. (sic)"

Ferry's son Ottis also took to his Twitter account and thanked the Wellington Fire Service for freeing his brother from the car. 

He wrote: "thank you for extracting my Brother alive from what looks like a mangled box of tin. We are all continuing to pray (sic)"

US musician Nile Rodgers, among other famous faces sent their best to his family during the difficult time.
