Britney Spears' mom is "very concerned" about the singer.
The 'Toxic' hitmaker spoke up in court on Wednesday (23.06.21) to brand the conservatorship she has been under since 2008 "abusive" and called for it to end and now a lawyer acting on behalf of Lynne Spears has spoken out to offer support to the 39-year-old star.
Gladstone Jones described Lynne as a "very concerned mother" following Britney's speech, and the attorney encouraged the judge to listen to the 'Womanizer' singer's request to hire her own private attorney and change her care plan.
Lynne had previously filed an objection to the $890,000 in fees reported by her ex-husband Jamie Spears' legal team and argued the firm's services were not "performed in good faith for the benefit" of Britney.
In his response as co-conservator, Jamie - who split from Lynne in 2002 - argued his ex-wife had had “zero involvement in her daughter’s conservatorship until very recently” and that her accusations “threatened to tarnish [Jamie’s] reputation as a loving, caring father.”
During Britney's 30-minute speech to the court this week, she claimed she'd been prevented from having children with boyfriend Sam Asghari as she wasn't allowed to have an IUD contraceptive device removed and alleged her team had her medication changed when she decided to take a break from her Las Vegas residency.
She said: “Lithium is a very, very strong and completely different medication compared to what I was used to.
“You can go mentally impaired if you take too much if you stay on it longer than five months. But [my dad] put me on that and I felt drunk. I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad really about anything.
“Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it.
"Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad. And my dad acted like he didn’t know that I was told I had to be tested over the Christmas holidays before they sent me away, when my kids went to home to Louisiana. He was the one who approved all of it. My whole family did nothing.”
The 'Stronger' singer - who pays her father around $16,000 per month, plus $2,000 a month to rent office space, in his role as co-conservator, as well as a percentage of profits from her deals - accused her relatives of keeping her under the conservatorship to make money.
She said: "Considering my family has lived off my conservatorship for 13 years, I won’t be surprised if one of them has something to say going forward, and say, ‘We don’t think this should end, we have to help her.’ Especially if I get my fair turn exposing what they did to me."
