Bobbi Kristina Brown Died From Drug Intoxication And Drowning

Bobbi Kristina Brown died from a combination of drug intoxication and drowning, the autopsy on the late star has revealed.

The forensic investigation into the 22-year-old beauty's death last July - almost six months after she was found unresponsive in a bath - had initially been kept secret because of possible foul play and an ongoing criminal investigation.

But now the cause of death can be revealed after Fulton County Superior Court Judge Henry Newkirk in Atlanta, Georgia, ordered the documents be unsealed.

The judge granted a motion filed by media organisations, who had argued the order to seal the results violated the state and federal constitutions and court rules because there was no public notification or opportunity for a hearing.

Following the ruling, an initial statement was released by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office on Friday (04.03.16) - on what would have been Bobbi's 23rd birthday - and reveals what condition her body was in when she was found unconscious in the tub on January 21, 2015.

The Medical Examiner's Office in Atlanta reviewed medical records, investigative files and other documents to determine how Bobbi - the daughter of deceased music icon Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown - died.

The report concluded cannabis, alcohol, sedatives and anxiety medications contributed to her passing but the "underlying cause" of death was "immersion associated with drug intoxication".

The statement read: "Death was clearly not due to natural causes, but the medical examiner has not been able to determine whether death was due to intentional or accidental causes, and has therefore classified the manner of death as undetermined.''

A full post-mortem report is still to come.

Following her death Bobbi was buried last August at the Fairview cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey, next to her mother Whitney's burial plot who eerily died in similar circumstances when she drowned in a bath in February 2012 on the eve of the Grammy Awards ceremony at the age of 48.
